Finally, biostatistics courses were the bedrock of research design and project implementation courses.
ALUSINE TOMMY KARGBO
I enjoyed Research Methods (Research & Project Implementation) because it provided a strong foundation in understanding how research ideas are identified, developed, and translated into practical projects. The course clarified the step-by-step process of conducting research, from defining a problem and setting objectives to choosing appropriate methodologies and writing research proposals. This made research more structured and less intimidating.
Another aspect I enjoyed was the emphasis on project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Learning how research findings are applied in real-world settings helped me appreciate the importance of evidence-based planning and decision-making. The course showed how well-designed research can directly influence health programs, policies, and interventions, especially within public health and development contexts.
I also enjoyed Research Tools & Software in Biostatistics Programs because of its practical and hands-on nature. The course introduced me to statistical tools and software used to manage and analyze data, making abstract statistical concepts easier to understand. Working with real datasets improved my ability to organize data, generate tables and graphs, and interpret results accurately.
Finally, the integration of biostatistical software into research strengthened my analytical confidence. I appreciated learning how data analysis supports valid conclusions and informed decision-making in health research. Overall, both courses complemented each other by enhancing my research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, which are essential for academic work and professional practice.

The learning was participatory
Rev. Kigen Kipchirchir Benard
The Research Methods and Research Tools & Software in Biostatistics programs provided me with comprehensive and practical insights into designing, implementing, and analyzing research in complex public health and social contexts. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on integrating quantitative and qualitative methods, which enhanced my capacity to interpret diverse datasets and translate evidence into actionable policy recommendations.
The hands-on training in statistical software and biostatistical tools was invaluable in strengthening my analytical skills. I was able to directly apply the techniques learned to ongoing research projects, including studies on population health, climate-driven health inequities, and economic disparities in low-income communities.
Equally significant was the program’s focus on ethical research practices, data integrity, and reproducibility. This reinforced my commitment to conducting rigorous, socially responsible research that is both impactful and culturally sensitive.
Finally, the opportunity to engage with a cohort of international scholars and practitioners enriched my learning experience. The collaborative environment encouraged knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary thinking, and the development of networks that continue to inform my research, policy advocacy, and leadership activities.
AKTARI SABHI ISSA
I deeply enjoyed the Research Methods (Research & Project Implementation) and Research Tools & Software in Biostatistics program because it provided a strong balance between theory and hands-on practical application. The program strengthened my understanding of how rigorous research design and appropriate statistical tools support evidence-based decision-making across development, health, and social sectors. Each module was well-structured and progressively built my confidence in applying research tools to real-world problems.
One of the most valuable aspects of the program was the exposure to diverse data collection platforms such as KoboToolbox, Enketo, Google Forms, and SurveyMonkey. Learning how to select the most appropriate tool depending on research context, population, and infrastructure was extremely relevant to my work in rural and resource-constrained environments. The practical exercises helped me appreciate data quality assurance, ethical considerations, and digital efficiency in field research.
I also greatly appreciated the intensive training in data analysis and visualization using Excel, SPSS, Power BI, Tableau, and R-Studio. These tools enhanced my ability to analyze both qualitative and quantitative datasets, interpret findings accurately, and communicate results in a clear and meaningful way to stakeholders, donors, and policymakers. The integration of statistics with decision-making frameworks was particularly impactful for my monitoring and evaluation practice.
Overall, the program sharpened my professional competence and expanded my analytical mindset. It strengthened my confidence to lead research activities, support project implementation, and mentor others in data-driven programming. The collaborative learning environment, expert facilitation, and relevance to current global research demands made the program both intellectually stimulating and professionally transformative.

General experience.
I truly enjoyed participating in the online scholarship program on Research Tools and Biostatistics. The program was well-structured and thoughtfully designed to suit learners from different academic backgrounds. It created an engaging learning environment that encouraged curiosity, interaction, and critical thinking. I especially appreciated how the sessions were organized in a clear and progressive manner, which made complex concepts easier to understand.
Knowledge and Skills Gained.
One of the most valuable aspects of the program was the practical exposure to research tools and biostatistical methods. I gained a better understanding of data collection, analysis, and interpretation, which are essential skills in academic and scientific research. The explanations were simple yet detailed, allowing me to grasp concepts that previously seemed challenging. This experience strengthened my confidence in handling research-related tasks.
Teaching Approach and Engagement.
I also enjoyed the interactive nature of the sessions. The facilitators were knowledgeable, patient, and open to questions, which made learning more engaging. The use of real-life examples and practical illustrations helped me connect theory with application. This approach not only improved my understanding but also motivated me to explore further learning in research and biostatistics.
Personal and Academic Impact.
Overall, the program had a positive impact on my academic development and personal growth. It enhanced my analytical thinking, improved my problem-solving skills, and strengthened my interest in research. I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this program, as it has equipped me with valuable knowledge that will be useful in my academic journey and future career.
Dr. Priyadarshini Deb.
I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the program “Training in Research and Implementation in the New World Era”organized by Fissori International in collaboration with AYPAD. The program was thoughtfully structured and offered a comprehensive overview of modern research tools and software, making the learning experience both engaging and highly relevant. The stepwise approach—from fundamental concepts to advanced applications—allowed for smooth learning and sustained interest throughout the course.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this training was the extensive exposure to a wide range of research and data analysis tools. The sessions on data collection platforms, data entry software, statistical packages, and visualization tools were especially practical. Learning how these tools are applied across different stages of research enhanced my confidence in handling real-world research projects and strengthened my understanding of how technology supports evidence-based implementation in today’s rapidly evolving research environment.
The program also successfully bridged the gap between statistical theory and practical decision-making. Topics such as descriptive and inferential statistics, hypothesis testing, and the role of statistics in multidisciplinary decision-making were particularly insightful. As a medical professional involved in research, I found these components extremely useful in improving my ability to analyze data critically, interpret research findings accurately, and apply statistical reasoning in clinical and academic contexts.
Overall, this training program was a highly enriching and motivating experience. It deepened my interest in research, strengthened my technical and analytical skills, and inspired me to apply these tools in future research and implementation work. I am grateful to Fissori International and AYPAD for organizing such a relevant and forward-looking program, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking to build strong research and implementation skills in the new world era.
