What Did you enjoy about the program?

One of the things I enjoyed most about the program was the structured and practical approach to research and project implementation.

The sessions were not only informative but also designed in a way that helped me understand how to transform an idea into a well-organized academic or professional project. I appreciated the balance between theory and application, which made the learning process both engaging and meaningful.

I also enjoyed the way the program encouraged critical thinking and personal reflection. It pushed me to examine my own academic journey, identify my strengths, and recognize areas where I needed to grow.

This experience helped me gain more confidence in my ability to plan, execute, and present research projects effectively. It was motivating to see how much clarity and direction I gained through each module

Another aspect I truly appreciated was the supportive and interactive learning environment. The facilitators provided guidance with patience and expertise, and I found the peer engagement very enriching.

Listening to other participants’ perspectives and experiences opened my mind and helped me understand research from different angles. This sense of community made the program even more rewarding.

Overall, the program was an inspiring and transformative experience for me. It strengthened my academic discipline, improved my communication skills, and expanded my understanding of research methodology. Most importantly, it shaped the way I think about my future goals and gave me the tools to pursue them more confidently.

I left the program feeling more prepared, more focused, and more motivated to continue developing as a researcher.Through this program,i managed to secure a fully funded PhD scholarship at one of the best university in morocco ( number one in morocco ). Really grateful for this opportunity you gave me to be part of FISORI

PROFILE

Name: JABESS ZIMBA

Jabess Zimba grew up as the fourth of six children in a humble and hard-working family. His early life was shaped by resilience, determination, and an unwavering belief that education could change the trajectory of his future. Despite many challenges, he distinguished himself academically and became the only member of his family to complete high school, an achievement that marked the beginning of a remarkable educational journey.

After successfully completing Grade 12, Jabess earned a scholarship to study abroad in Morocco, a life-changing opportunity that opened new doors and broadened his horizons. His initial intention was to pursue medical studies; however, as life unfolded, he discovered that God had prepared a different path for him. He was admitted into a two-year preparatory cycle specializing in Biology, Chemistry, and Geology, which he completed in 2022. During this period, his passion for science — especially chemistry — deepened significantly.

Motivated by this growing interest, Jabess went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry and Environment, which he completed in 2023. His academic performance, dedication, and drive to excel led him to write the competitive national entrance examination (concours) for Master’s studies. He succeeded and was accepted into the Master’s program in Chemical and Materials Science Engineering at the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques, Settat (FST Settat), one of Morocco’s respected scientific institutions.

Throughout his Master’s training, Jabess demonstrated a strong commitment to research and academic excellence. His exposure to advanced laboratory work, materials synthesis, and scientific characterization strengthened his passion for innovative solutions in energy materials and sustainability. Inspired by global efforts to address energy challenges, he chose to advance into doctoral-level studies.

After completing his Master’s degree, Jabess made a decisive step toward his long-term vision by enrolling in a PhD program at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir — one of Africa’s leading research universities. At UM6P, he is currently engaged in doctoral research focused on green hydrogen and ammonia production, fields that are central to the global transition toward clean and renewable energy systems. His work aims to contribute to the development of sustainable technologies capable of supporting Africa’s energy independence and environmental stability.

Beyond academics, Jabess is driven by a deep sense of purpose, faith, and responsibility. His journey from a modest background to advanced scientific research reflects his perseverance, God’s guidance, and his commitment to inspiring others. He believes that education is both a personal calling and a tool for empowering communities, especially young people who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

As he continues his PhD journey, Jabess remains determined to grow as a scientist, contribute meaningfully to knowledge, and strengthen Africa’s presence in global scientific innovation. His long-term vision includes becoming a leading researcher in clean energy, mentoring future scientists, and using science as a bridge to create opportunities for others — just as opportunities were created for him.

With a story rooted in resilience, faith, and academic discipline, Jabess Zimba stands as a testament to what is possible through perseverance and a willingness to follow the path that God opens.
