What Did you enjoy about the program?
The program was well packaged, with vast information regarding the research and project implementation. I enjoyed appreciating a variety of new concepts like referencing styles and tools, writing an effective literature review among others which are fundamental to my early career research development.
The interaction with the participants across almost all parts of the world increased my social network and also facilitated my learning of the different cultural diversities.
The program also had most of the concepts that one ought to appreciate in order to navigate this competitive world of opportunities such as presentation styles, use of technology, communication skills, time management among others.
The assessment component at every end of the module was something very vital that enabled me to gauge my stand after learning the module. Further more, award of certificates after each module and the entire program was a remarkable achievement in my journey of academia.
PROFILE
Name: ASIIMWE PRECIOUS
Asiimwe Precious is a highly committed and versatile Ugandan health professional whose career reflects dedication to clinical excellence, community service, and the advancement of patient-centered healthcare. Born on January 31st, 1995, he has developed into a dependable and multi-skilled Nurse, ART Clinician, TB & Leprosy Focal Person, Palliative Care Nurse, HIV/TB Supervisor and Sonographer, while serving at Bwindi Community Hospital in Kanungu District from 2018 to 2022. His work is marked by a passion for saving lives, promoting quality care, and strengthening health systems in underserved communities.
His academic foundation began at Kihiihi Progressive Day and Boarding Primary School, where he completed his Primary Leaving Examinations in 2008. I later joined Kinkiizi High School Nyakatare for both my Uganda Certificate of Education (2009–2012) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (2013–2014). His strong interest in science, leadership, and humanitarian work guided me towards a career in health. This ambition led him to Uganda Nursing School Bwindi, a Uganda Christian University affiliate, where I earned a Diploma in Nursing Science from 2015 to 2018. During my training, he demonstrated strong academic performance, leadership initiative, and an exceptional commitment to practical clinical skills.
Throughout his nursing education, he was actively involved in student leadership and extracurricular roles that sharpened my organizational abilities and strengthened his interpersonal relationships. He served as Chairperson of the Cyber Science Club (2013–2014), Vice Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (2016–2017), and later Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (2017–2018).
Hewas also a Scripture Union Class Representative and an active member of the Rotaract Club, demonstrating a strong grounding in integrity, teamwork, mentorship, and responsible leadership.
Precious’ professional journey began in 2015 when he served as a student coaching teacher at St. Peter’s Secondary School in Katete. This teaching role strengthened my communication skills and ignited his passion for guiding young people academically and socially. After completing his nursing diploma, he joined Bwindi Community Hospital, where he has since become an indispensable member of the clinical team.
As a TB and Leprosy Focal Person, I oversaw case detection, diagnosis, treatment adherence, community follow-up, and implementation of national TB/Leprosy guidelines. His role as an ART Clinician further positioned him at the center of HIV/AIDS care, providing counseling, monitoring treatment outcomes, and supporting patients to live healthier and productive lives.
In addition to his nursing and clinical assignments, he is a trained Sonographer through the Imaging the World program, a skill developed concurrently with his nursing studies. Precious’ sonographic expertise enables me to support early diagnosis, maternal care, and improved clinical decision-making within the hospital. He is additionally specialization in palliative care, gained through training from Hospice Africa Uganda, equipped me to support patients with cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other life-limiting illnesses—emphasizing dignity, compassion, and holistic care.
Precious has participated in numerous professional trainings that have greatly expanded my competencies. These include Advanced Family Planning, Nutrition in Reproductive Health, Neonatal Care (Helping Babies Breathe), Physical Exercise and Well-being, Wound Care, Integrated HIV/TB & Leprosy Management, Mental Health Gap training, Public Speaking, Communication skills at the work place, guidance and counseling, training in Research work and Digital Science and Virtual Laboratory navigation.
Through these trainings, he has gained proficiency in maternal and child health, newborn resuscitation, nutrition counseling, communicable disease management, and modern healthcare technologies. His exposure to the National Patriotism Corps under the Office of the President further strengthened his discipline, civic responsibility, and national service values.
He has also contributed to research, completing a study on the “Prevalence of Urinary Tract Infections among Pregnant Mothers attending Antenatal Care at Bwindi Community Hospital.” This research enriched my understanding of maternal health challenges and strengthened his analytical and problem-solving abilities—skills essential for modern evidence-based healthcare.
He is respected for his strong interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, guidance and counseling capacity, teaching skills, and effective time management. He is highly dependable, adaptable, and committed to excellence in every task he undertakes. His compassion for patients, humility, and calm approach to problem-solving have earned him trust among colleagues, patients, and community members alike.
Outside professional life, Precious enjoys athletics where I have won several medals and certificates, high jump, long jump, and track events—alongside reading scientific and religious literature, participating in church activities, community service, and engaging in charitable works. His social personality allows him to easily build friendships and work harmoniously in diverse teams. He communicates effectively in both English and Rukiga/Runyankole, enabling me to connect well with people from different backgrounds.
Guided by my life motto “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your mighty, not as to men but to God, from whom you will receive your reward” I exemplify integrity, diligence, and unwavering dedication. My career continues to reflect a deep passion for healthcare, community upliftment, and service above self. With my growing expertise, leadership experience, and commitment to continuous learning, I stand as a valuable asset to any healthcare institution seeking professionalism, resilience, and compassionate care.
From 2022 up to date, I have been pursuing my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery course at Makerere University, Kampala – Uganda.

Precious is a dedicated and multi-skilled Registered Nurse with strong expertise in TB & Leprosy management, HIV/ART care, palliative care, and diagnostic sonography. Since 2018, He has served at Bwindi Community Hospital as a TB & Leprosy Focal Person, ART Clinician, Palliative Care Nurse, and Sonographer—delivering compassionate, evidence-based, and patient- centered care. He holds a Diploma in Nursing from Uganda Nursing School Bwindi (UCU Affiliate) and have completed extensive specialized trainings in Advanced Family Planning,Neonatal Care (Helping Babies Breathe), Integrated TB & Leprosy Management, Nutrition in Reproductive Health, and Palliative Care for cancer and HIV/AIDS patients, Mental health gap training among others.
